Author once lived and worked in Mansfield. Book received 1955 by the great-grandchildren of the author. At the back is an 1818 letter from the author to his (second) wife regarding moving to New York, approximately one year after being dismissed from his position in Mansfield. Also includes a portrait of "Elmira," Esther Elmira Williams/Mrs. George Howland, the daughter of Mary Handford Webb (wife of Major John Webb, who drowned on the S.S. Arctic) and the author.
