Wilbur L. Cross (1862-1948) was born in Mansfield. He taught at Yale before becoming Governor of Connecticut from 1931-1939. He was a major supporter of the Connecticut State College (UConn).

Wilma Keyes was an art educator, author, and professor at the University of Connecticut for many years.
